Hi Everyone, Apologies for my absence from the site for a few days.. it's been a rather demanding time here in the Peters household... The situation with Jules has taken quite a few twists and turns since the beginning of the week and on Tuesday night she was admitted into the Royal Liverpool University Hospital. She has been taken into the Tropical Disease department (Ward X) there and is now in the care of Dr. Turtle. Although Jules has been on the warfarin drug since the DVT diagnosis her left leg has continued to swell and on Tuesday morning she was in so much pain that she couldn't even stand up. I called the doctor in and it was obvious that something was / is very wrong with her. Dr. Jessop called the specialists in Liverpool and she was taken up there within hours. On Tuesday night she was still in terrible pain and so she was given morphine and since then has been fairly stable. She is in an isolation suite and is not being allowed visitors at present. Her CRP reading is still incredibly high and the consultants have today confirmed that she is suffering from a virus that was probably picked up in Africa and so she is also now wired up to an IV with anti-biotics. As we have suspected all along Jules is fighting on two fronts and that is why she has been so very ill. Her left leg has been covered in green marker pen tonight to highlight certain veins etc. and to monitor the swelling and changes that are or are not taking place as a result of the DVT. She is going to be in hospital for sometime yet and even when the time comes to bring her home she is going to have to face up to a long recovery programme that could take up to six months or more. She is taking all of this with great dignity and bravery and I'm very proud of her. Although she is in isolation, she is allowed to receive email on her iPhone so tonight I set her phone up to receive incoming from the alarmcalling@mac.com email address.... I'm sure it would cheer her up no end to know that so many people are thinking of her... so please drop her a line if you have time... On a more cheerful note, while I was there this afternoon, Tony Hadley from Spandau Ballet (who have been playing in Liverpool tonight), sent her a text message to wish her a speedy recovery!!!!! Judging by the smile on her face, that was the best medicine she has received all week.... even better than the kiss she got from the lead singer of The Alarm...... love hope and strength, Mike P.S. see you all in Wrexham on Sunday night!!!!!
