Philip Lee Dobbs – DOB 22nd October 1958

Hello, I’m Phil Dobbs. It’s my pleasure to get involved at this year’s Gathering and to help Mike during the event in any way I can. I’m your guide on the coach tours this year so I’m busy learning as many Alarm facts as possible although no matter how hard I try most of you will know much more about Mike and the band than I do.

I was born in St Asaph just before Mike, making me a few months older than the annoyingly youthful Mr Peters and now live in Rhyl with my son Paddy. I’m passionate about music of any type and also love art in all its guises – mention Mark Rothko to me and we’d be friends for ever.

You wont recognise me from this photo…I’ve had a hair cut!

Mike and I met when we were maybe 4 or 5 years old at Christ Church Primary School and became friends immediately. We were in the same classes together and I was Vice Captain while Mike was captain of ‘Clwyd House’ as 10 year olds! We played in the school football team, always squabbling over who got to wear one of the shirts with the long sleeves and I can remember watching with Mike my very first colour FA cup final on the T.V. at the Crescent Hotel where he lived.

During the early 1970’s we both played for ‘Hearts’ in the local junior football league almost winning the double in one season. We also took part in the Rhyl subbuteo league! But as far as I can recall without a single win!

Throughout all the years we’ve stayed firm friends and it’s a credit to Mike that he has remained totally unfazed by all the success he has achieved and if I had to chose one thing his enthusiasm is probably the  attribute I admire the most as he can never hide the excitement when a new idea pops into his head.

More recently Love Hope Strength has played a major part in the Peters’ household and we should all congratulate Mike for the tremendous work he is doing and we should all of us do our utmost to promote the charity and its endeavours.

Take care everyone, see you in January.
